Parents' Day 4:04 PM 110698684922615771

I survived a 10 minute bilingual group discussion with CCheung, Mr Leung, and my own mother!

10 minute - as CCheung scheduled for everyone. The timer sitting on the table facing me. Reason for starting at 12 noon and ending at 5, even though only 26 of us.

bilingual - CCheung made us talk to her in English, while we can switch to Cantonese when speaking to mum and Mr Leung. Mum had choice to speak to her in either English or Cantonese, who of course chose the latter. Swear it's the first time ever seen CCheung talking in Cantonese and pausing a lot while searching for right vocabulary.

Still top 10 of every subject (not good considering class size) even though placed 3rd to the last in Chinese (quite good considering class size).

dealing with chaos 8:11 PM 110613804378379853

Amy just flew off to Japan. Thus, the entire "Smile with Glee" work came down to me. I wonder why aren't the vices doing these stuff. I'm not complaining. I act according to the guildlines my boss left me, simply because I'm a responsible member of The Board, unlike someone.

So far I've been managing these stuff quite well. I've met with the supervisor of the nursery, thrice; collected all the forms; completed the schedule and close to finalising it with JYu; done a piece of letter to the parents and is going to let JYu see it tomorrow.

I've been doing my job as the vice of The Club as well. I've been doing samples with The Club, reporting stuff to my president and also my moderator.

We received overwhelming response from the nursery kids and their parents. There are 75 of them (I mean families) are coming, all squeezed into 8 time slots from 12 noon to 5pm, including 16 in the 12 noon slot. JWong said it would be okay for her, (well not for us). Let's see how would she make us deal with this.

Prefects might possibly be the most irresponsible monsters on the planet. Well, I'm an exception, obviously, and Yu Ma, and Gracie Lin. The Board was supposed to help out for the big day, but refused to do so because of scheduling conflicts with the HKU Campus Tour, which isn't a mandatory event. I signed up for that too, but I'm responsible. So -

The green-badged prefects of the disciplinary unit were the best scapegoats. Many of those who previously agreed to help out pulled out and -
I don't know. That's someone's (who is equally responsible as I am) problem. She wouldn't see the supervisor with me. As a result, I'm bound to do the public relations and she has to do WHAT IS LEFT. Plus, she's partly in charge of the disciplinary unit. There is no way I interfene their internal affairs, right? I'm totally and unmistakably correct.

Good. I've realised I've grown up over the months. I don't chicken out when I have to see the supervisor. Well, maybe because I got Gracie Lin as company.

A mood for? 11:05 PM 110571775325668816

I don't think I'm in a mood for studying at all after two completely uneventful days which She-Who-Must-Burn-In-Hell has mercilessly engage us in. (Note to Candilam, froggie: The school new block (not the Annex) is linking up with the main building. As such, the walls between the new block and the second staircase would be demolished and pathways contructed. Result: No lessons.)

Yesterday
The Day After Tomorrow was aired in the hall. Form threes, fours and sixes filled the hall - heads stuck up in every single chair. Moved to the floor and blocked the central hallway. TDAT = absolute rubbish. If I didn't have to submit a movie review, I would have treasure the time and got some beauty sleep. After a 30-minute break, we were back for the behind-the-scenes. I couldn't bear watching the director, who was also the screen playwright, who was also the creator of the story doing an almost-monologue on the screen. Honestly, I have never seen a movie worse than this. Even the behind-the-scenes - supposed to be the most entertaining - was a bore. How good could this be?

That brought us to 12 pm.

After lunch we had to do the movie review. I was so merciful that I wrote I liked the special effects (which I don't find fascinating at all). My English teacher, also my form mistress, may have chosen the dvd. I didn't want to piss her off, possibly causing her to bad-mouth me in Parents' Day.

Today
A metro radio creative director (Chan siu chee), also a past student, came and gave us a lecture on careers development. I couldn't get much out of her other than how to be a DJ and DJ interview tips. I admired her excellent voice though and her courage to stand there to do a humourous monologue for 2 whole hours. I believe I was being entertained.

Next was a talk concerning energy saving given by a middle-aged man from the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, which I have almost no memory of, because presumably, I dozed off.

After lunch we have another environment talk. I wasn't sure where this lady came from. She was loud and she had this irritating accent that somehow delayed my dozing-off. She talked about the green school and award and something else like LPG. I would recommend using cantonese. In that way I could have gotten asleep sooner. The highlight of the talk was the Q & A sessions. She was giving out cushions for your wrist to lie on when you use the mouse. I'm not even sure what that is called in cantonese. But whatever. People, including me, were eager to get one. So everyone was excited and waved to answer the questions. It was a complete turn-off when my friend got one and I got to get a closer look at it. Both Yu ma and I lost our last and least intention to raise our hands.

My time deserved to be used in a better way than this.

Do you realise I keep complaining about life?

Tsunami comes to School 1:43 AM 110511723331740076

So, you think the South Asian tsunami produced catastrophic results? Well, there is so much more than that.

Besides passing brown bags around for people to put in red bills and even brown bills, She-who-must-burn-in-hell's instinct led her to some things more adventurous. (I'm trying to include everything I know since all of you who are reading are no longer in this school, except denbo, who's form 7, who basically knows nothing on this subject.)

The school in which She-who-must-burn-in-hell is principal of, is organising a series of events to raise money for the tsunami victims.
Project One: Souvenir sale in Primary section
You know the school has all those files, binders, scarves, organiser refill sheets, memopads and stuff? Well these are going to be sold in the "green field" where all the white chairs and white tables and white umbrellas are. They are going to sell the 150th Anniversary exercise books (both the blue and the brown) as well. And, what is worth noting, is that all these are going to be sold at raised prices. The money will go to the sisters of their club at Indonesia to help the victims. How encouraging to the donors is that?
Project Two: Hearts of Gold
"Dream a little dream of me..." Ha! I can't believe it that we're actually wrapping "gum sha" chocolate into "flowers". Each are sold at $10 to the mainland guests and performers which are coming to our school. Money goes to UNICEF.
Project Three: Sports Day Walkathon
Takes place after sports day at 4:00pm. Students go get sponsors and walk the track of Wanchai Sports Ground. Money goes to the sisters.
Project Four: One Meal Fulfils Two
I have to commend UNICEF for coming up with this name, which is much less vintage than either "Heart of Gold" and "Smile with Glee". Ok, what it is, is that 牛肉飯, 花果山 and 一品齋 is going to donate a dollar of two to UNICEF if you buy a lunchbox from them.
Project Five: Smile with Glee
I happen to be in charge of this. Right. I'm the vice of the club and member of the Board, so, double-duty. We're doing photoshoots for kindergarten and nursery kids and family. We're going to make use of the green screen, take out the green background digitally, and put in artificial backgrounds - from set design to photo-printing. It's all us, and our teeny weeny studio. $50 per 2(?forgot) A4 printouts - number of photos your choice squashed in 2 A4 sheets - no lie. Uh, to anyone planning to come: Don't.

Shouldn't God be dancing round like mad? His apprentice does what it takes to save the tsunami victims!

What is the point with all these anyway, making half the school working their heads off.

Oh God please ascend She-who-must-burn-in-hell to heaven so that we can inhale the air of freedom. Amen.

from the 30th to now 5:54 PM 110466207177594017

Camped with Yu Ma and co number 2. I thought we were just going to sleep there for one night so I brought the lightest luggage. But then it turned out that we were going to sleep there for 2 nights. That wasn't a big problem for me except for the fact that I only have 2 panties with me including the one I was wearing. And to make matters worse, the breakdown of my uterus lining of this month just started. And I didn't realise that the temperature was going to get that low and I left my Superwarm at home.

Despite that, I had fun playing, shivering as well. Have you ever biked under the merciless wind at 6oC?

On the coldest night we had bbq.

10 things I hate about BBQ esp at temperature 6oC
1, The cold wind blows on your face, you tear and you sniff.
2, You blacken your fingers with charcoal.
3, You sit there 15 minutes before you have your first bite and it's not necessarily nice.
4, You ingest a lot of carbon with your food and they are carcinogenic.
5, You inhale an awful lot of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, which doesn't do any good to your systems.
6, You contribute to global warming.
7, Waste of natural resources making BBQ forks when the earth's resources is running low.
8, There is a big possibility that your chicken wing hit the floor when you unfork it from your BBQ fork especially when you are anxious (which happened to me).
9, You burn your honey spare ribs when you are busy chatting with the one next to you, which means you have to start all over again.
10, It's so uncool.

1 hour to the countdowns we decided to pop in the happy party the camp site organised. To our huge disappointment it was like family parties with kids all over the place and dads and mums grinning and laughing. We stayed until the countdowns and went back to the room and awaited the rerun of The Apprentice. It was the season finale and so aired till 2:30am.

At 7pm 1 January, met Denbo, maymay, Dai and Susan at M&S Taikooshing. Had really expensive dinner in Ruby Tuesday, imitated camels, exclaimed at big fake (are they?) diamond rings, sat at McKee and paid frequent visits to the toilet :D

Must get going with the covalent bonds and gravitation.
Still waiting for the new books to come :)
